Assignments

I have worked for and with a number of clients to provide them with a portfolio of work. Images and / or videos obtained have then be used for a range of outreach projects to open their work or products up to a wider audience.

I am capable of taking your brief on board and working in either of the following ways:

  • Independently or as part of a team of photographers and film makers to travel to your desired location and collect the images you desire.
  • To be embedded into your project or research team and join you and your team as you go about your work.

The Whale Sharks of Al Shaheen

I joined researchers from Qatar’s Environment Ministry, Maersk Oil and Herriott-Watt University as they traveled 50 miles offshore to the Al Shaheen Oil Field. Each summer whale sharks gather here by the hundred to feast on fish eggs each morning. I was tasked with photographing the spectacle for a private client to create a unique collection of images of this phenomenal gathering of giants.

Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania

I joined researchers from IMAS as they set up experiments to monitor impacts of climate change on Tasmania’s rocky reef kelp communities and as they monitored the spread and impact of a destructive sea urchin moving south with warming seas. Over several days I photographed the team as they went about their work above and below the water. At the end of the visit I supplied the research group with a portfolio of images to use in reports and presentations and any other outreach media of their choice.

Undersea Explorers, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust

The Marine Education team from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust asked me to join them for a day to photograph their undersea explorers project. The project aims to teach youngsters snorkeling skills and teach them about marine wildlife in the relative safety (not to mention clear waters!) of a swimming pool. I can’t show all the images here but the kids loved the pool sessions and you can see more images on the Making Waves website.

HUEZ Cycling

When start-up cycle clothing company HUEZ got in touch, they needed imagery for their new website. Basing their brand around the famous Alpe d’Huez climb of the Tour de France what better place to visit than the mountains themselves. Accompanied by their top designer, I had just 36 hours to gather as many different images as possible of the 20+ twists and turns which make up the grueling climb, the graffiti and the stunning scenery. Video footage we took was also perfect for their recent successful  Kickstarter campaign.
